DAMASCUS/HATAY
A forest fire broke out in the northwest of the Syrian city of Latakia, in a region of Turkmens, at the Turkish-Syrian border on Wednesday. The fire spread to Turkey due to heavy winds. Fire crews are trying to extinguish the fire in Yayladagi town of the southern province of Hatay.
Sources argued that forces loyal to the Assad regime caused the fire in order to prevent the entry of Syrian nationals into Turkey and to find out members of the Free Syrian Army.
