ANKARA
Turkey's Development Minister Cevdet Yilmaz said nobody in Turkey has daily expenditure under $1 anymore, on Monday.
Addressing Anadolu Agency (AA) News Academy students at the HQ of the AA in Ankara, Yilmaz said they had been preparing the 10th development plan of Turkey and aim high technology in economy and produce with more added value.
He said development in not only about economy but also advancing in social prosperity, basic human rights and freedoms.
On Turkey's development, Yilmaz said the gross national expenditure increased to 800 billion USD in 2012 compared to 230 billion USD in 2002 and added that nobody in Turkey has daily expenditure under 1 UDS anymore. He said as of 2023 there would not be absolute poverty in Turkey.
Saying that Turkey became "a normal democracy" in the last 10 years, Yilmaz added Turkey should not be relaxed and continue to do reforms in every area.
He said statistical institute TurkStat releasing some of its data earlier than declared via certain channels has been investigated.
Yilmaz hosted by the AA News Academy and gave an economy lecture to the diplomacy and finance journalism trainees.
He briefed students about the growth, employment and the activities of regional development agencies and praised the efforts of AA on training human resources for the long run.
