Wild animals suffer from finding food in the winter season due to the bad weather conditions in Turkey.
Ministry of Forestry and Water Works organized a feeding campaign for wild animals due to decreasing air temprature and heavy snowfall accross the country.
Minister of Forestry and Water Works Veysel Eroglu said 560 tonnes of feedstuff were reserved for wild animals and added that protecting animals was important for Turkey's biological diversity.
Over two thousand tonnes of feedstuff were left in nature for wild animals, especially for street animals in Giresun, a statement released by the Ministry of Forestry and Water Works Giresun Branch Office said.
Ministry of Forestry and Water Works Erzurum 13th Branch Officer Mehmet Siddik Kilincer said especially the population of partridges decreased significantly in Erzurum and across the country, adding that 70 tonnes of feedstuff was left in nature last year.
Cold weather affects natural life adversely in Turkey's eastern Igdir province and bad weather conditions affect mostly wild animals, said Forestry and Water Works Head Officer Mete Turkoglu.
Ministry of Forest and Water Management released a statement announcing that 560 tonnes of foodstuff were reserved for wild animals for the 2013-1014 winter period.
