LUXEMBOURG
European Union (EU) foreign ministers on Monday agreed to exclude the Syrian opposition from an oil embargo on the Assad regime.
EU foreign ministers eased the oil embargo on the Syrian opposition and permitted the imports of oil through the Syrian National Coalition for Opposition and Revolutionary Forces.
EU foreign ministers also opened the path for European companies to sell oil and natural gas production technology to the Syrian opposition and make investments on land under the control of the Syrian opposition.
EU members in September 2011 had placed a ban on oil imports from Syria and on energy infrastructure investments in Syria.
