Egyptian Information Minister Salah Abdel-Maksoud on Thursday visited the Anadolu Agency.
In a meeting with AA Board Chairman and Director General Kemal Ozturk, Abdel-Maksoud said Turkey was an important country for the region.
"AA will be the voice of Egypt. We are content with AA's operations. We would like to sign a protocol agreement with the AA. We are ready to cooperate and this agreement will be a significant one for the two countries," said Abdel-Maksoud.
AA Board Chairman and Director General Kemal Ozturk said Cairo was a very important center for the AA adding after the agency had opened a new office in Cairo it became an important news agency in the region.
Ozturk thanked the Egyptian government saying "AA has turned into a news center of the Middle East and Africa thanks to the support of the Egyptian government. I hope your support will strengthen the relations between the two countries."
Turkey follows the events in Egypt closely and Turkish media receives the news about Egypt from the AA, Ozturk said adding "Misinterpretation of the news is prevented as AA reporters writes the news articles in target language rather than translate."
