CAIRO (AA) - March 31, 2013 - Spokesperson for the Palestinian government in Gaza, Tahir en-Nunu on Sunday refuted all claims that there was tension between Egypt and Hamas after tunnels between Gaza and Egypt began to be closed.
Speaking to the Anadolu Agency (AA), Nunu underlined that he did not think there was tension between Egypt and Hamas.
An Hamas delegation led by Hamas Political Office Chief Khalid Meshal and the Prime Minister of the Palestinian government in Gaza, Ismael Haniya will have a meeting with the Chief of Egyptian Intelligence General Rafet Shehate, Nunu stressed.
In talks with the Egyptian intelligence leader, Meshal and Haniya would discuss topics such as the establishment of a national consensus between Palestinian groups, the cease-fire with Israel, the Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails, and Egypt-Palestine relations.
Hamas delegation will hold talks with various political parties and groups during a two-day stay in Egypt, Nunu also said.
-Hamas to elect new political office chief-
On the other hand, an election is expected to take place on Monday for the person to replace Khalid Meshal. A high number of Hamas executives arrived in Cairo on Saturday night from Gaza, Qatar and other countries to participate in the elections of Monday.
Hamas movement holds an election every four years in three regions, including the West Bank and diaspora.
