Turkish President Abdullah Gul said Syria's downing of a Turkish military plane clearly showed "the paranoia of the Syrian armed forces."
"What happened to this plane in international airspace shows what kind of a paranoid situation the Syrian armed forces are in," Gul told reporters in a press conference after a summit meeting of the Organization of the Black Sea Cooperation in Istanbul.
Gul said the reconnaissance plane was on a routine flight and it had "no special mission" related to the ongoing situation in Syria.
"We appreciate solidarity shown by the international community. This incident of course will not be taken on the chin," he said.
