ANKARA
Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu called the foreign ministers of the countries in the United Nations Security Council on the Syrian government's violent crackdown against opposition members at the common border betwaeen Turkey and Syria.
Davutoglu informed his French counterpart Alain Juppe on the violent incidents taking place at the Turkish-Syrian border by phone on Tuesday.
Diplomatic sources said that Davutoglu conveyed information to Juppe on his talks with UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon and other foreign ministers of the countries in the UN Security Council.
On the other hand, British Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs William Jefferson Hague told Davutoglu in a phone conversation that his country was ready to provide assistance to Turkey in regard to Syrians staying in Turkey.
Hague and Juppe thanked Turkey for its support to Syrians who fled from violence in their country and took shelter in Turkey during their talks with Davutoglu on Tuesday.
