LONDON
Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu on Thursday met with members of the Osmanoglu Family, the descendants of the Ottoman Sultans, over a dinner hosted by the Turkish Embassy in London.
Around 20 members of the Osmanoglu Family attended the dinner.
Speaking at the dinner, Minister Davutoglu underlined that the dinner was very special and historic.
"I am happy to be with the Osmanoglu Family who have not lost their connections to Turkey despite living overseas for a very long time," Davutoglu stated.
"I wished to meet with you much earlier. I do hope we can meet more frequently," Davutoglu said.
"Turkish Embassies are the homes of the members of the Osmanoglu Family, just as other Turkish nationals. We would be very happy to host you at the Turkish Embassy in London in future events as well," Davutoglu underlined.
"I would like to meet the Osmanoglu Family in Turkey in the near future as well," Davutoglu noted.
Davutoglu extended an invitation to the Osmanoglu Family to attend the Seb-i Aruz ceremonies in Konya, Turkey in December.
Also speaking at the dinner, Osman Selahaddin Osmanoglu thanked Davutoglu for his kind words.
"We were very emotional after seeing this gesture. Members of our family gathered in such a large group for the first time and we are thankful to Minister Davutoglu for that," Osmanoglu stated.
"We would like to meet with Davutoglu in the near future again. We could meet in Konya or Istanbul and Bursa, cities with special meaning for our family," Osmanoglu also said.
