LEFKOSA (AA) - Turkish Cypriot Foreign Minister Huseyin Ozgurgun on Friday said that Cyprus talks might get delayed to the end of 2013 and that the Turkish Cypriot side was against seeing the EU at the negotiation table.

Foreign Minister Ozgurgun's remarks came in the Turkish Cypriot capital of Lefkosa after meeting UN Secretary General's Special Envoy on Cyprus Alexander Downer.

"We had a positive meeting with Downer. I have conveyed him that Cyprus talks should resume immediately," Ozgurgun underlined.

"Downer has told us that the economic crisis in the Greek Cypriot administration was a serious obstacle facing talks in Cyprus. Downer mentioned that he did not expect Cyprus talks to resume any time soon," Ozgurgun noted.

"Cyprus talks have been going on for the past fifty years and we do not want to go out of the UN's umbrella and parameters in talks," Ozgurgun emphasized.

"We reminded Downer that the EU will not be accepted as a side at the table and that a road map had to be drawn in Cyprus," Ozgurgun also said.

Downer is expected to hold talks in Turkey next week.
