SIRNAK, Turkey

A curfew has been declared in Turkey's southeastern province of Sirnak, the local governorship said on Monday.

Sirnak governorship said in a statement that the curfew will be imposed as of 11 p.m. local time (2100GMT) on Monday in the center of the city until further notice.

The curfew was imposed “to catch separatist terror organization members", "to destroy holes and barricades", "and to ensure the security of citizens’ lives and property”, the statement added.

Other curfews were declared on Sunday in Hakkari province's Yuksekova district and Mardin province’s Nusaybin district as security forces carry out operations against PKK terrorists.

Anti-terror operations were recently completed in other southeastern districts such as Cizre, Silopi and Idil in Sirnak province and Silvan and Sur in Diyarbakir.
