ANKARA
Turkish main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) has opened branches in Germany, Switzerland, the Netherlands and Belgium under its abroad-organization working plan.
CHP Deputy Secretary General Faruk Logoglu told AA correspondent on Monday that they attached significant importance to abroad-organization, and they had been working on it for the last one year.
Logoglu said that they established "CHP union" in 8 major cities of Germany, Switzerland, the Netherlands, and Belgium and added that they completed the workshop for the union in France and Australia.
"We will hold workshops in Britain and other Nordic countries soon," said Logoglu, and added, "We are opening a representation in Washington, and working to open one in Canada."
Underlining that the unions were founded according to the local law systems, "The unions have a charter in local language. Administration and supervision council members are elected."
3.5 million voters
Logoglu said that the unions aimed to improve relations between the host countries and Turkey, as well as help solve the problems of Turkish citizens living abroad.
"Our political objective is to make CHP more widely known to the 3.5 million Turkish voters abroad," adding that they also would strengthen CHP's relations with particularly social democrat parties.
