ANKARA
A ceremony took place Thursday at Anitkabir, mausoleum of the founder of modern Turkey, Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, to mark the 90th anniversary of the August 30 Victory Day.
A delegation of politicians, bureaucrats, top judges as well as force commanders led by Acting President and Parliament Speaker Cemil Cicek, placed a wreath on Ataturk's tomb and observed a minute of silence.
Cicek signed the special notebook at Anitkabir.
The Victory Day on August 30 is a national holiday in Turkey to commemorate the victory in the Battle of Dumlupinar, the final battle in the Turkish War of Independence in 1922.
