British Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg said on Thursday that Britain supported Turkey's military move against Syria.
Delivering a speech at a panel in Istanbul, Clegg said that British government supported Turkey's legitimate right of defense.
Britain was deeply saddened by killing of several Turkish citizens in Syrian shelling near the Turkish-Syrian border on Wednesday and this showed once again severity of the situation in Syria. "It is unacceptable," he said.
Clegg said that political and diplomatic pressure must be put on Assad regime.
British deputy premier said that Syria was discussed in his meetings in Ankara on Wednesday, stating that there was a full consensus between Turkey and Britain on what should be done regarding Syria issue.
Replying to a question, Clegg said they wished that violence would end.
