ISTANBUL
A group opposed to the regime of Syrian president Bashar Assad has condemned the attack on Anadolu Agency's office in the Syrian city of Aleppo, in which all the bureau's technical equipment was confiscated.
In a written statement Wednesday, the National Coalition for Syrian Revolution and Opposition Forces said the attack was carried out after Anadolu Agency published news item regarding the radical group Iraq Sham Islamic State, one of the main jihadist groups fighting government forces in Syria.
The coalition statement said the attack was carried out simultaneously with the publication by Anadolu Agency of images appearing to show torture committed by the Syrian regime against its people. The international team has more than 50 thousand photographs of prisoners said to have been subjected to systematic torture and execution in the country.
The coalition statement alleged that the Iraq Sham Islamic State organization had previously violated international law and human rights such as the rights to life and freedom of expression, in the areas it controlled.
