The Anadolu Agency's recent cooperation deal with Karachay-Cherkess Republic news media group in North Caucasus is lauded by local media as a move towards raising awareness of the republic throughout the world.
AA Director General and Board Chairman Kemal Ozturk visited autonomous republics of Karachay-Cherkessia, Kabardino-Balkar, Chechnya and Ingushetia in Russia last week with the aim of extending its reach in the region and increasing cooperation with local media institutions.
Ozturk met with Karachay-Cherkessia Republic's Deputy Prime Minister Janibek Suyunov and Minister of Information Evgeniy Kratov, and signed a cooperation agreement with the Karachay-Cherkess Republic news media group which includes a TV channel, news agency and several radio stations.
The official news agency of the Kabardino-Balkar autonomous republic reported Ozturk's visit as "an opportunity to promote Caucasian culture, traditions and historical treasures."
The agency explained the recent history and accomplishments of the agency, and its achievements in the last three years towards its centennial vision.
"The AA's planned increase of its network will make an important contribution to the advancement of journalism in the region," Chechnya local media also reported.
"Our aim is to extend our news feed and network in North Caucasus, making its voice heard more around the world, and to increase its recognition," Ozturk told a gathering of media representatives in the autonomous republic.
