MARDIN
Anadolu Agency (AA) opened an office in southeastern province of Mardin at a ceremony participated by AA Executive Board Chairman and Director General Kemal Ozturk in Mardin on Wednesday.
AA Director General Ozturk, Governor of Mardin Turhan Ayvaz, Mayor of Mardin Besir Ayanoglu, Mufti Dursun Ali Coskun and many other guests were present in the opening ceremony of the office.
Ozturk stated that AA would be broadcasting in 11 languages in AA's 100th year, and AA was currently broadcasting in five languages; Turkish, English, Arabic, Bosnian and Russian.
Ozturk underlined the importance of establishment of a link with Mardin because the Arabic language was widely spoken there and said, "AA has opened 20 offices in the Middle East and it broadcasts from Morocco to Beirut. Therefore, from now on any news we make in Mardin, whether it is a story about the stone houses or Mardin's historical story or our cultural structure in Mardin, it can all be broadcast in the Middle Eastern media."
