Aydin said that there were 49 banks in Turkish banking sector, adding that 32 of them were deposit banks, 13 developments banks, and four of them were participation banks.
Noting that Turkish banking sector displayed a sound stance during the global economic crisis, Aydin said that political and economic stability was the main reason of this sound stance.
According to macro figures in banking sector, the share of total assets in national income is around 95 percent, said Aydin.
He also said that the credit growth in banking sector was around 15 percent in 2012.
