The fourth Global News Agency Conference took place today in the Saudi Arabian capital Riyadh, attended by directors of leading news agencies and other media organizations from across the world.
Anadolu Agency’s CEO, Kemal Ozturk, attended the conference, during which Saudi Arabia’s Culture and Information Minister, Muhyiddin Hoca stressed the importance of news agencies.
Emphasizing that a news agency, “must put great importance to reporting in a honest and trustworthy way,” Hoca said he is pleased that the conference is held in Saudi Arabia.
Saudi Arabia’s official news agency (SPA) director, Abdullah bin Fahd el-Hüseyin said while technology is advancing at a great speed in our era, print newspapers are having a harder time to compete online and in social media.
The Global News Agency Conference, attended by Anadolu Agency, Reuters, Agence France - Presse, will continue for three days.
Some of the important topics at the conference, supported by the Saudi Arabian King Abdullah, are social media and digital platforms and how news agencies will be able to meet the needs of print newspapers in the future.
Scheduled to speak at the panel entitled, ‘Assessing New Opportunities’, Anadolu Agency’s Deputy Director General Cagatay Culcuoglu, will discuss Anadolu Agency’s vision and plans to be a global brand.
AA CEO, Kemal Ozturk and Culcuoglu also visited Turkey’s ambassador in Riyadh, Yunus Demirer, who said he was pleased that the AA has an influential presence in the Arab world.
