Istanbul museum to feature German art movement ZERO
Istanbul’s Sakip Sabanci Museum is to host an exhibition to introduce German art movement ZERO for art lovers in Turkey.
The display focuses on “the biggest international art network of the 20th century,” the museum said in a statement. “Art must start from zero was the motto of the movement which was born in Dusseldorf in 1957.”
The exhibition is described as “an extensive selection of artworks produced in various techniques and materials”.
The display will be open between Sept. 2 and Jan. 10.

Rock lovers to meet in Istanbul
Istanbul will host a three-day music festival “100% Metal Fest: Headbangers’ Weekend” at Istanbul’s Kucukciftlik Park between Aug. 29 and 31.
This year’s festival will host Kreator, Helloween, Arch Enemy, At The Gates, Ensiferum and Moonspell from around Europe as well as Turkish metal bands Murder King, Pitch Black Process, Metalium, Thrown to the Sun, Soul Sacrifice, Kes, Vortex of Clutter and Chaos Nerve.

Father of Ethio-jazz in Istanbul
Ethiopian musician Mulatu Astatke will be in Istanbul to perform and give a lecture on Ethio-jazz culture as part of the Red Bull Music Academy Night on Sep. 1 in Kucukciftlik Park.
The 71-year-old musician gained fame late in life when his work was used in Jim Jarmusch’s 2005 film Broken Flowers.
Turkish musicians joining Astatke include Buyuk Ev Ablukada, Insanlar and Ahu.

ArtInternational to gathers modern art enthusiasts
The third edition of ArtInternational will bring together pieces from world-famous artists in Istanbul between Sept. 4 and 6.
The third edition of the contemporary fair will gather pieces by pop-art icon Andy Warhol, British contemporary artist Grayson Perry, English graffiti artist Banksy, Catalan’s Joan Miro and Belgian artist Jan Fabre.
The fair, which will feature 83 galleries from 24 countries, takes place at Halic Congress Center on the banks of Istanbul’s Golden Horn.
