SIRNAK, Turkey
Turkey’s military says nine PKK terrorists have been killed in the southeastern province of Sirnak’s Idil district.
According to military sources, the militants were “neutralized” in air-supported operation early on Wednesday.
Turkish security forces were trying to close ditches and defuse explosives in Idil following a curfew.
The number of dead may increase security sources added.
The PKK -- seen as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and the EU -- resumed its 30-year armed campaign against the Turkish state in late July 2015.
Since then, more than 270 members of the security forces have been martyred and thousands of PKK terrorists killed in operations across Turkey and northern Iraq.
