7 PKK terrorists surrender to Turkish security forces
241 terrorists have laid down their arms so far this year, says Interior Ministry
At least seven more PKK terrorists have surrendered to Turkish security forces thanks to persuasion efforts, the Interior Ministry announced on Wednesday.
After fleeing PKK bases outside of Turkey, the terrorists surrendered to Turkish forces thanks to persuasion efforts by the police and gendarmerie, the ministry said in a written statement.
The terrorists joined the PKK in 2013-2018 and were active in Turkey, Syria, and Iraq, said the statement.
With the latest additions, the number of terrorists who laid down their arms through persuasion efforts this year reached 241, it added.
In its more than 30-year terror campaign against Turkey, the PKK – listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the US, and EU – has been responsible for the deaths of 40,000 people, including women, children and infants.
