KONYA
Police detained 65 people on drug charges in a central Turkish city on Tuesday after a tip-off that a gang of drug dealers was operating in the area.
Following months of surveillance, 700 police officers conducted 73 simultaneous raids in Konya, during which they seized a wide variety of narcotics and unlicensed weapons.
Those arrested - ten of whom were juveniles - were taken to the anti-smuggling and organized crime department where they were held after health checks.
The raid was one of several carried out by police since the beginning of the year in an attempt to clamp down on illegal drugs.
