Simsek stated that growth in 2012 would be below 3% according to the figures announced today.
Simsek mentioned that Turkey's biggest trade partner EU being in crisis negatively affected the current account deficit and said, "Although our exports to the EU have decreased 7.9% in the first nine months, our total exports have increased by 13.7%. The increase in exports with the North Africa and Middle East has accounted for the market loss in the EU."
Simsek also said that they expected the improvement in the current account deficit to slow down in the final quarter of the year with the recovery in the domestic demand.
