SANLIURFA, Turkey (AA) - Seventeen foreign nationals were held in southeastern Turkey after illegally entering the country, according to security sources on Tuesday.

Gendarmerie and police teams in the Siverek district of Sanliurfa province received information that foreign nationals were hiding in pistachio tree fields.

Teams conducted a raided and held Afghan and Pakistani nationals after a brief chase.

They were later referred to a local repatriation center.
