Security forces Thursday seized over a million ecstasy pills hidden inside an international transportation truck in southeastern Hatay province of Turkey. Provincial narcotics department was informed that a truck carrying millions of ecstasy pills waited for customs clearance before crossing into abroad. Police forces launched an operation straight away and a total of 1.4 million ecstasy pills were seized with the help of two detection dogs. Three Syrians were arrested following the operation and security forces said the drugs were planned to be transported to Saudi Arabia. Due to its unique geographical location, drug traffickers attempt to use Turkey as a route for distributing their poison. However, Turkish security forces regularly hold operations to counter them; in fact, almost 150,000 anti-drug operations were held in Turkey in 2018. * Ali Murat Alhas contributed to this story from Ankara
