The Turkish Air Force killed 13 PKK terrorists in raids on northern Iraq, the military said Tuesday.

Strikes on the Gara, Zap and Avasin-Basyan regions were carried out last Saturday, resulting in 13 terrorists being “neutralizing”, a term that usually suggests the targets have been killed.

In a statement, the General Staff said four weapons depots and and three armed vehicles were destroyed.

The PKK is listed as a terrorist organization in Turkey, the U.S. and EU. In 33 years of violence against Turkey, more than 40,000 people have been killed.

The group uses northern Iraq’s mountainous border region to launch attacks on Turkey and has its main base at Qandil, near the Iraq-Iran border.
