12 PKK terrorists killed in Turkey's southeast
Military reports on counter-terror operation in Sirnak, Mardin
Twelve PKK terrorists have been killed in counter-terrorism operations in Turkey’s southeast, the military said Friday.
Reporting incidents from the previous day, a statement from the Turkish General Staff said four terrorists were killed in Nusaybin, Mardin province, and eight across neighboring Sirnak province.
Operations to counter the PKK, listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and EU, in the two regions have been running since mid-March.
The statement added that an 18-day counter-terror operation backed by a curfew in Sirnak had come to an end.
The PKK resumed its 30-year armed campaign against the Turkish state in July, since when more than 400 members of the security forces have been martyred and around 3,700 PKK terrorists killed.Anadolu Agency website contains only a portion of the news stories offered to subscribers in the AA News Broadcasting System (HAS), and in summarized form.
