ISLAMABAD, Pakistan

Turkish Air Force Commander Gen. Hasan Kucukakyuz on Wednesday met Pakistan's army chief Gen. Qamar Javed Bajwa.

According to a statement by Pakistan’s army, Bajwa and Kucukakyuz -- who is currently on a visit to Pakistan -- discussed matters of mutual and professional interest, including regional security situation.

"Both expressed satisfaction on the brotherly relations between the two countries", the statement said.

The Turkish Air Force chief also met Pakistan’s President Arif Alvi.

During the meeting, Alvi said that Pakistan and Turkey enjoy an “unparalleled fraternal relationship” embedded in a shared cultural and religious heritage.

The president also conferred Nishan-i-Imtiaz (Military) award upon the commander of the Turkish Air Force.

Earlier in the day, the visiting Turkish dignitary was also received by Pakistan’s Air Chief Marshal Mujahid Anwar Khan at the air force headquarters and presented a guard of honor.

According to a statement issued by Pakistan Air Force, the visiting official laid a wreath at a monument to pay homage to martyrs.

Both sides pledged to further cement cordial relations between the two air forces.
