SANLIURFA, Turkey
Over 800 kilograms of heroin were seized at a border crossing in eastern Turkey, the largest amount ever caught at a customs checkpoint in the country, a minister announced on Thursday.
Customs officers seized 808 kilograms (over 1,781 pounds) of heroin at the Gurbulak border crossing with Iran in the eastern Agri province, Trade Minister Ruhsar Pekcan said.
She praised the officials involved in the drug bust for their vigilance and dedication.
