Turkey’s Erdogan marks spring festival Nevruz

ANKARA 

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Wednesday delivered message of unity and togetherness on the eve of Nevruz spring festival.

In a statement, Erdogan celebrated the day of Nevruz, which heralds the coming of spring.

“Nevruz is overcoming all the differences and protecting the past and future within unity and togetherness,” Erdogan said on the eve of spring festival.

Turkish president also underlined the importance of peace, solidarity and fraternity in his message.

Turkey will always preserve the spirit of resurrection symbolized by Nevruz, he added.

The Nevruz Day falling on March 21 has been celebrated for more than 18 centuries across Anatolia and Asia.

The spring festival is celebrated mainly in Iran, Afghanistan, India, and Turkic republics such as Azerbaijan, Caucasus countries, Albania and Macedonia.
