A sombre mood dominated Tuesday’s European premiere of superhero movie Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice following the terrorist attacks in Brussels.

The movie’s stars Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill walked the red carpet but did not give the traditional interviews to journalists.

Distributor Warner Bros said in a statement: “Our hearts go out to the victims of recent terrorist attacks, their families and the communities impacted around the world. Rather than yield to terror, we’ve decided to join the film’s fans and move forward with the London premiere of Batman v Superman this evening.”

The movie, starring Cavill as Superman and Affleck as Batman, opens worldwide this weekend with Turkish Airlines as a major sponsor.
