BINGOL, Turkey

A member of a Turkish counter-terrorism village guard was killed Tuesday in the eastern province of Bingol, the provincial governor said.

Yavuz Selim Kosger said one village guard was killed and another injured when PKK terrorists launched an attack in the village of Ortacanak.

The wounded man was taken to Bingol State Hospital for treatment, Kosger added.

The PKK is listed as a terrorist organization also by the U.S. and EU. It resumed its armed campaign in July last year, since when more than 600 members of the security forces have been martyred and 5,000 PKK killed.
