ANKARA

The Turkish and Italian national swimming federations signed a protocol on Wednesday to bolster cooperation between the two organizations.  

Turkish Swimming Federation President Erkan Yalcin and his Italian counterpart Paolo Barelli attended the signing ceremony in the Olympic Stadium in Rome, which doubles as an office of the Italian Swimming Federation.

Yalcin said the protocol represented an important step for swimming in Turkey, according to an official statement by the Turkish federation.

For his part, Barelli underlined that Turkey held great potential in every sense, highlighting the importance of the agreement for both countries.

The protocol calls for cooperation in coaching and referee training between the two groups.

In addition, training camps, workshops and friendly competitions between the two countries will be organized as a part of the agreement.
