SOCHI, Russia
The 2015 SportAccord Convention, which gathered officials from Olympic and non-Olympic sports federations as well as actors of the international sports community as a whole, has come to an end in Sochi, Russia.
Marius Vizer, the Head of SportAccord, which represents international sports federations, said on Friday in a press conference marking the end of the six-day Convention: “I want to work and cooperate with everyone in harmony."
"We all passed a productive week in Sochi for the future of sport."
Vizer had caused a stir on Monday when he launched an attack on the International Olympic Committee in which he accused its head, Thomas Bach, of running a system which he claimed was "outdated, wrong and not at all transparent."
Referring to his remarks on Friday, he said they should not be regarded as a "declaration of war or earthquake."
“I just said my opinion,” he said.
The associations which attended Convention which started last Sunday, included the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), the Association of Summer Olympic International Federations (ASOIF), the Association of International Olympic Winter Sports Federations (AIOWF), and the Alliance of Independent Members of SportAccord (AIMS) and more than 100 international sports federations and organizations’ officials.
