Greek tennis player Tsitsipas undergoes elbow surgery

ANKARA 

Greek tennis player Stefanos Tsitsipas received elbow surgery on Thursday but expects to be on the courts for the 2022 Australian Open, the first Grand Slam of the next year.

Tsitsipas, 23, shared a photo of himself in a hospital room on Facebook with his right elbow bandaged.

"Focused on a healthier and happier future. Next stop, pre-season in Dubai two weeks from now and then looking forwards to Australia," said the world no. four player.

Tsitsipas was a finalist in the 2021 French Open (Roland Garros) in the men's singles.

The 2022 Australian Open (AO) will be played on Jan. 17-30 in Melbourne.
