FIFA President Sepp Blatter has expressed "deepest sorrow" for South African goalkeeper Senzo Meyiwa who was killed by armed intruders in his home Sunday.
The 27-year-old international was shot dead by two armed attackers in his Vosloorus home near Johannesburg on October 26.
According a FIFA statement Monday, Blatter said: "On behalf of the international football community I would like to express my deepest sorrow and anguish at the senseless killing of South Africa and Orlando Pirates' goalkeeper Senzo Meyiwa last night.
"My heart goes out to his friends and family for the terrible loss of his young life."
Meyiwa, who played for his country in the last four 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, had helped the Orlando Pirates reach the South African League Cup semi-finals Saturday.
