Fenerbahce Tarfin defeated hosts CIMSA CBK Mersin 79-71 to win the FIBA SuperCup Women title Wednesday for the third time.
The reigning EuroLeague Women champions from Istanbul secured their third SuperCup crown after lifting the trophy in 2023 and 2024.
Mersin, the reigning EuroCup Women champions, were competing in the SuperCup for the first time.
The opening quarter was close, with the teams level at 11-11 midway through before Mersin edged ahead 21-19 at the end of the quarter.
The game was tied at 28-28 with four minutes remaining in the second quarter, but Fenerbahce took control from there and went into halftime with a 38-32 lead.
Fenerbahce extended their advantage in the third, moving ahead 51-40 with five minutes remaining before ending the period 59-48 in front.
The Yellow Canaries pulled away further early in the fourth quarter, opening up a 67-50 lead and forcing Mersin to call a timeout with 7:20 remaining.
The hosts fought back late, cutting the deficit to nine to 77-68 with 1:24 left and then to six with 19 seconds remaining.
Fenerbahce, however, held their nerve from the free-throw line to secure the 79-71 victory and become only the second club to win the SuperCup Women three times.
Emma Meesseman, who was named Final MVP, finished with 14 points, eight boards and seven assists. Olcay Cakır Turgut led Fenerbahce in scoring with 16 points.
Carla Leite scored 17 points and had five assists for Mersin. Kennedy Burke contributed 14 points, while Kariata Diaby finished with 12 points and eight rebounds.
