European Youth Olympic games - Day 3
At least 675 athletes from 34 countries competing in eastern Anatolian city of Erzurum

Day three of events of the European Youth Olympic Festival ended in the eastern Turkish province of Erzurum Wednesday with at least 675 athletes from 34 countries competing to take home the gold.
This is the first time Turkey has hosted the games, also known as EYOF 2017.
The games’ opening ceremonies were held on Sunday night at Erzurum’s 25,000-person capacity Kazim Karabekir Stadium.
Crowds of people showed up to see the event, despite the chilly -14 Celsius (6.8 Fahrenheit) weather.

2. Jason Drezet (France), with 28.48.9, won the silver medal.

4. Basar Oktar (Turkey) came in 4th.
Men’s 1,500 m short-track speed skating
1. Peter Murphy (Luxembourg) won the gold with a time of 2.24.536.

3. Luca Spechenhauser (Italy), with 2.24.956, won the bronze.
Fatih Ozden (Turkey), with a time of 2.31.082, came in 17th among 28 competitors.
Women’s 1,500 m short-track speed skating
1. Vera Rasskazova (Russia) won the gold with a time of 2.35.111.
2. Sofya Boytsova (Russia), with 2.35.255, won the silver.
3. Melissa Tunno (Italia), with 2.35.411, won the bronze.
