EuroBasket: Turkey return home despite Hungary win

ANKARA 

Turkey's national basketball team have been eliminated from the FIBA Women's EuroBasket 2019 even though they beat Hungary 59-58 on Sunday. 

Turkey earned their first win in the last match in Group C and so they failed to qualify for the knockout stages due to the two consecutive losses in this group.

Turkey previously lost against Italy and Slovenia.

Three Turkish players scored in double digits against Hungary in Sunday's game. Turkish center Kiah Stokes and point guard Olcay Cakir scored 11 points each.

Additionally, Turkish power forward Tugce Canitez had 10 points in this match.

The top scorer of this match was Hungarian center Bernadett Hatar producing 15 points. Hatar also grabbed seven rebounds.

The other three Hungarian players, Debora Dubei, Agnes Studer and Dorina Zele scored 11 points each but Turkey were victorious in this match.

Turkey won this game but will return home as they have been eliminated from the EuroBasket 2019 co-hosted by Latvia and Serbia.

Meanwhile, Group C winners Hungary qualified for the quarter-finals in the Serbian capital Belgrade.
