ISTANBUL
Yildirim Demiroren on Thursday resigned as head of Turkish football's main governing body, he said in a statement.
"l step down as TFF [Turkish Football Federation] president," Demiroren said in a statement.
He was the head of Turkish football's main governing body since February 2012.
The new president will be elected in June 2019.
Vice President Husnu Gureli would be in charge until the election, another TFF Vice President, Nihat Ozdemir, told reporters after Demiroren resigned.
