Russia claimed on Sunday it downed 125 Ukrainian drones over seven regions that were launched overnight.

A statement by the Defense Ministry said 67 of the drones were shot in the southern Volgograd region, while 18 were intercepted over the Rostov region, where Governor Vasily Golubev said a fire broke out in a 20 hectare area.

Seventeen drones were shot down over each of the regions of Belgorod and Voronezh bordering Ukraine, the ministry said.

Voronezh Governor Aleksandr Gusev said a fire had erupted in a residential complex in the region's administrative capital.

The statement said drone was also downed over each of the Krasnodar, Bryansk, and Kursk regions, while three drones were intercepted over the Sea of Azov.

Ukraine's General Staff claimed in a later statement that it struck a military storage facility near Volgograd's Kotluban settlement, almost 300 kilometers (186 miles) from the Ukrainian border.

Russian authorities have not yet commented on Ukraine's statement.
