The US House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on the Middle East and North Africa has adopted two resolutions condemning the murder of Israeli and Palestinian teenagers and denounced the "use of civilians as human shields by Hamas".
The resolutions, which were referred to the Committee on Foreign Affairs, passed unanimously from the subcommittee at a session on Friday.
Resolution 665, which was submitted to the subcommittee on July 10, condemned the kidnapping and murder of Naftali Frenkel, Gilad Shaer and Eyal Yifrach whose dead bodies were found near the Palestinian village of Halhul, northwest of Hebron, on June 30 after they went missing in early June.
The resolution also condemned the murder of Palestinian youth Mohammed Abu Khdeir on July 2 by Israelis in a revenge attack.
It called on Israel and Hamas to apprehend the murderers.
The second resolution, Concurrent Resolution 107, was referred to the House of Representative Foreign Affairs Committee and the Senate on July 16.
The resolution denounced “the use of civilians as human shields by Hamas and other terrorist organizations in violation of international humanitarian law”.
It called on Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas to condemn Hamas for its actions and fighting tactics against Israel.
The resolutions will be referred to the House Floor for Congressional approval after being passed at House Committee on Foreign Affairs.
