The Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council will meet on Friday in Kiev to discuss the situation in Crimea, said the speaker of Parliament, Oleksandr V. Turchynov, who is now the acting president of Ukraine.
This morning, pro-Russian armed men arrived in the Sevastopol military airport near Russia's Black Sea Fleet Base.
Turchynov said, “Although Ukraine has already warned the pro-Russian and Crimean Tatars to give up the conflict, the pro-Russians still insist on using weapons and tried to take control of the airport in Crimea”.
The political situation in Crimea has been tense since Ukraine was hit by large-scale protests that eventually led to the ousting of Yanukovych.
