Turkey’s ambassador in Islamabad met with Pakistan's newly appointed navy chief Admiral Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi at the Naval Headquarters in the capital on Monday.

Ambassador Ihsan Mustafa Yurdakul, according to a statement from navy, congratulated Niazi on assuming the command of Pakistan Navy.

During the meeting, it added, matters of mutual interest and bilateral relations were discussed.

Niazi expressed grief over losses in the Friday’s earthquake in Turkey and prayed for speedy recovery of the injured.
