Turkey's Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu met with his Vietnamese coutnerpart Pham Binh Minh in Hanoi on Wednesday, on the last stop of his Asia-Pacific trip.
According to diplomatic sources, Cavusoglu noted the current $2.2 billion trade volume between Turkey and Vietnam at the meeting, and said the number should be around $3 billion by the end of 2015.
The two ministers discussed establishing a Joint Economic Council and working out a free trade agreement between the two countries.
Vietnam's Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh also mentioned that his country can export rice, tea, and tires to Turkey and import steel and cotton.
Minh also said in order to boost tourism, daily flights should be arranged between the two countries.
Cavusoglu also invited Minh to the commemoration of the Battle of Canakkale on April 24.
Turkey's foreign minister also visited Cambodia and Thailand during his four-day Asia-Pacific tour.
