DOHUK
Syrians whose situation get worse every day due to the civil war in Syria and who face starvation have to travel kilometers to reach the Iraqi border in order to get food by risking their lives.
Syrians who come to the Silke region, around 60 kilometers far from the northern Iraqi city of Dohuk, bring small animals and trade them for food items.
Despite the freezing cold and dangers on the way, the Syrians return to their homes from the Silke region with as much food as possible for their starving children.
Speaking to the Anadolu Agency (AA), a member of the National Assembly of Syrian Kurds, Behcet Besir said that, based on figures they had, the region would suffer serious starvation in two weeks if urgent assistance is not provided.
A heavy influx of Syrian refugees may take place into Turkey and Iraq, Besir also said.
