Turkey’s top officials on Monday commemorated 103th anniversary of the historic Ottoman army victory over British forces during the World War I.
“We commemorate heroic martyrs and veterans on the 103th of Kut al-Amara victory, one of the unique history that our ancestors made,” President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Twitter.
Also on Twitter, Vice President Fuat Oktay, Presidential spokesman Ibrahim Kalin, and Presidential Communications Director Fahrettin Altun remembered the martyrs of Kut al-Amara siege with respect.
The battle of Kut al-Amara took place during World War I between the Ottoman Army and British-Indian forces in the town of Kut, which is now in modern Iraq.
