Security operations carried out across Afghanistan over the last 24 hours have killed 17 Taliban militants and wounded seven others.
In a statement posted on the internet, the Afghan Interior Ministry said the operations were conducted in Helmand, Logar, Vardak, Uruzgan, Kunduz and Laghman provinces.
Caches of arms and ammunition were also found in the operations and 11 militants were detained.
Roadside bomb explosions in Farah and Helmand provinces killed two Afghan soldiers.
Afghan Security Forces official Harun Yusufi said the rockets were fired from Pakistan and hit a house in Kunar Province, killing five people and wounding three others. Yusufi said one of the victims was a member of the border police.
Afghan officials claim that dozens of people have been killed and wounded in frequent rocket attacks from Pakistan.
