JERUSALEM
US Secretary of State John Kerry said a peace plan to end the decades-old conflict between Israel and Palestine would be ‘fair’ and ‘balanced’.
Speaking to the press before visiting Jordan, Kerry said: ‘’I guarantee that both President Obama and I are committed to revealing a fair and balanced plan which meets the security needs of all segments.’’
Kerry said the main disputed subjects in the on-going negotiations between the parties, such as the issues of borders and refugees and Jerusalem’s final status, are being discussed.
Kerry said the US would assist the Iraqi government in its struggle against Al-Qaeda linked groups, but not in the form of sending troops, underlining that the current issues in Iraq is ‘their own struggle.’
Emphasizing that the Islamic State of Iraq’s (ISIS) car bomb attack in the Lebanese capital, Beirut, earlier this week is ‘worrying,’ Kerry said ISIS is the ‘most dangerous group in the region’.
‘’We will stand by the Iraqi government and anyone who is struggling with them; we will do anything we can,’’ Kerry said. ‘’I don’t want to get into more details.’’
